DEPARTMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Full-Time Faculty Position Available. 
Accepting Applicants through June 30

The University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Health Related Professions, Department of Occupational Therapy in Jackson, Mississippi is seeking a full time faculty member to join our dedicated team. The candidate should have a desire to engage in teaching, scholarship, and service for the Department of Occupational Therapy as well as the profession at large; however, the emphasis for this faculty position will be teaching in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Mississippi occupational therapy license or eligibility for license

  • Doctorate degree in occupational therapy (i.e., OTD) or a related field (e.g., EdD, DSci, PhD)

  • Minimum five years of clinical experience, including fieldwork supervision

  • Current professional memberships at national and state level (e.g., AOTA, MSOTA)

  • Demonstrates outstanding professionalism (e.g., organization, communication, collegiality)

Other Desirable Qualifications

  • Classroom teaching experience and/or other instructional experience
  • Experience with online learning environments (e.g.., Canvas; Blackboard)
  • Leadership and/or management experience
  • Record of scholarship (e.g., research, professional presentations, publications)
  • Ability to mentor and coordinate people or programs

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

2 Full-Time Faculty Position Available. 

The Physical Therapy Department of the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center invites applications for two 12-month faculty positions for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

  • For one position, the candidate must have a clinical doctorate and be eligible for physical therapy licensure in Mississippi, but preference will be given to candidates with an academic doctorate and/or a specialty certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
  • For the other position, the candidate should have a clinical doctorate and/or an academic doctorate, with preference given to candidates with a clinical and academic doctorate. Successful candidates should have clinical expertise in the practice of physical therapy examination, evaluation, and intervention and demonstrate expertise in teaching within areas of clinical expertise.

Successful candidates may also have expertise in research focused on components of physical therapy. The potential to conduct clinical research and obtain external funding is desirable for both positions. Rank, tenure, and salary are commensurate with experience and academic background.

Physical therapy is one department within the School of Health Related Professions located on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus in Jackson, MS. The program began in 1973 and has a long history of educating physical therapists serving the state of Mississippi. The physical therapy program boasts a collegial faculty committed to academic excellence, ongoing scholarly endeavors, clinical practice, and team teaching. The qualified, successful candidates will have the responsibility, at minimum, of teaching content within the entry-level DPT curriculum in areas as assigned and maintaining a scholarly agenda.
